THE VAULT: Idea Pitch event

I am currently working on products/graphics for an event titled "THE VAULT". At this event 40 people in Lafayette will have an opportunity to present their products to a panel of investors. I have always felt that there was serious potential to build a product design industry within the state. The local industry is mix up of oil/gas service companies, restaurants, and jobs within the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I'm excited to say that InventureWorks (the company running this event) is on its way to providing design services that currently weren't here until now. The company works similar to Quirky (a social product development company) that allows people to bring their ideas to market. Being able to work face to face and providing quality design for everyday people has been a very rewarding experience. This event is the first step in an exciting future of possibilities. INNOVATION EXHIBITS SKI BOAT DESIGN

Last year I had the priviledge of joining the creative team of Fulcrum Collaborative to design the 2011Supra Launch 242 inboard skiboat. It was a blast being able to think on such a large scale. My past experience in designing products normally are objects that are hand held. The boat is now on the market and was the official towboat of the 2010 WWA Wakeboard World Championships. It was displayed in Innovation magazines summer 2011 issue. This article should have been posted on the blueprint months ago but it took me some time to find the issue. Well take a look!

BLUEPRINT UPDATE: Meet Cero

I would like to introduce Cerebral Blueprint's new face. I am currently giving the page a face lift before linking it to my new site and will be incorporating this friendly robot to give the blog an icon that represents the playful nature of the Blueprint .

METALWORK: the ballpoint holster

I am really a novice in jewelry work but it was fun getting some experience in metals on smaller scale than I am used to. This is the first of 3 designs (all unrelated). The function was to act as a holster for a pen. The pen is just a cheap ballpoint but it holds sentimental value because I used it at work in Shanghai over the summer of 2010. The projects main purpose was to act as an exercise to improve my riveting skill. I normally shy from pure ornament but I enjoyed the humor of the concept.

Shanghai Ballpoint Holster

REFURB: Computer Desk

Last week I decided to take some time to sand some years off an old desk. I have been curious as to what the wood looked like underneath this nasty black surface that had been covered with scratches and stains. I was suprised to see that the pine underneath the paint was worthy of a quick fix. I sanded it to about 800 and blacked out the bottom to make the wood really pop on the desktop. This is one of few furniture pieces in the works. I have a few old pallets the will also be refurbished. The Tetris style shelves are still being tweaked but I hope to get them posted soon.

SMARTPHONE: COMPLETE

 Well I am excited to finally make this post that would show the finale of a fascinating project. A special thanks to my partner in crime Mr. Bush on this project. We came to a unique solution in both form and function that is communicated in a simple design in the guise of a fun product. This rendering is missing the bulk of the design involved. I would love to show more but I will be saving the details for my new website currently in construction. Enjoy.

WORK FROM THE CRYPT

So today I came across a few nostalgic images while organizing old files. What started out as a backing them up to partition my computer, turned into a trip down memory lane of some silly past work from college years. Anyway have a look....possibly a laugh.
